Art of the Netherlands

Far from being large in size, the collection of Netherlandish painting contains the works by outstanding artists, who reached the highest peak of their national art. One of the earliest Netherlandish paintings which dates back to early 15th-century is the diptych "Trinity. The Virgin and Child by a Fireplace" by Robert Campin. It is here that the visitor can see the paintings by the leading artists of the 15 century: “St Luke Drawing the Virgin” by Rogier van der Weyden and the triptych by Hugo van der Goes.

Among the gems of the collection is the triptych "The Healing of the Blind Man of Jericho" by Lucas van Leyden, as well as the paintings by Jan Gossaert, Dirck Jacobsz, Pieter Aertsen, Joachim Patinier and Adriaen Thomas Key. On display are also sculptures, tapestries and objects of applied art created by the Netherlandish masters.
